Norman admits that abstract work is rarely his personal choice but recent sales of work by Plymouth artist Martin Bush and Exeter artist Brian Turner have gone a long way to persuading him that well-constructed abstract work has real commercial value. In fact, just recently top watercolour artist Michael Hill brought in an abstract as a contrast to his normal work and it promptly sold, proving that there is a market for abstract work. Despite Norman's reticence, the gallery will continue to feature selected abstract work and will be showcasing some new pieces from Martin very soon.
