Jeanette Smith
Jeanette Smith - Landscape Artist
Born and raised in Devon, Jea is a traditional landscape artist. Her paintings are inspired by the beautiful countryside of Devon and Cornwall and characterised by her meticulous attention to detail. She spends hours a day working and it can take many weeks to sometimes months to complete a piece of work, often returning to the scene several times to make sure she has captured the presence. The subjects of many of these works are taken from South Devon rivers at locations chosen for their particular appeal in terms of colour and natural beauty. Jea always new from an early age that art was an extremely important part of her being, but it has only been in in the last few years that she has enjoyed the luxury of being able to devote many hours every day to just painting. Jea's painting of the "River Teign upstream of Fingle Bridge" won first prize in the Landscape Category of Artist of the Year 2008 in the Artists & Illustrators magazine and exhibited at Art in Action at Waterperry House nearOxford in July 2008
