Richard Downer

Born in Devon in 1972, I have had an interest in photography for many years but more seriously since starting an evening course at Plymouth College of Art and Design in 2003. I have recently made the transition from amateur to full time professional photographer.The core of my business is selling prints, both online and through a number of local galleries. I also have my own greeting card company, 'Westcountry Photo Cards'. My cards can be purchased in an increasing number of shops throughout the Plymouth and South Devon area. Although I do enjoy and undertake commercial work, specifically interiors, architectural and food photography, my favourite subject matter will always be the landscape and coastline. I am inspired by the images of many different photographers, but by far the greatest influence on my own work are the photographs of the late Tasmanian photographer, Peter Dombrovskis.
